Welcome to my home on fritzfam.com.
fritzfam.com is a domain I maintain to serve the members of my family. Its primary purposes are to provide life-long email addresses and web space for family and friends. Like the best things on the web though, this domain's best uses will be those that are not even thought of yet. Also like most destinations on the web, this site is a work-in-progress and all the standard disclaimers apply. Enjoy your visit.
In May of 1999, I graduated from the Mechanical Engineering program at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana. At Purdue I studied control system analysis and design with the intention of pursuing a career in embedded control systems.
While attending Purdue, I co-oped with Visteon in Bedford, Indiana and Ypsilanti, Michigan (pdf) as a manufacturing engineer. On campus, I worked for Purdue's Engineering Computer Network as a web developer. After graduating, I worked full-time at ECN where I spent most of my days providing consulting services and programming services to Purdue's engineering faculty, staff and students. The focus of my work was web interfaces to databases. (Perl, DBI, and Oracle were my tools of choice.) I also assisted ECN's student staff with their projects and spent lots of time answering ECN webmaster email.
In February of 2000, I began working for Sprint Enterprise Network Services as a web developer. At Sprint I found my way into the Emerging Technologies Practice where I developed applications for Internet-enabled mobile devices like Sprint PCS's wireless web cellular phones.
In May 2000 I left Sprint to start Rosetta Mobile, Inc. with Serge Bushman and Chris Loud. Rosetta Mobile was a professional services and consulting company that built applications for mobile devices such as Internet-enabled wireless phones and personal digital assistants. Business at Rosetta Mobile started off with a bang, but shrinking IT budgets and waning interest in wireless web development outpaced our growth and we were forced to close the doors in March 2001. Despite its short life, helping start Rosetta Mobile was a great experience. It is truly amazing how much I learned, both in the technical and business arenas during that year.
In April of 2001, I accepted a contract Java development and systems integration position with the Managed Hosting group at Sprint E-Solutions. At E-Solutions I worked with a small team of developers to upgrade the customer web management interface and tools that support it. I also built, tested, and deployed the jumpstart images for hardened mail relays which relay mail into and out of Sprint data centers in several cities. The scope of my responsibilites expanded several times and my three month contract stretched into 10 months. In December and January, contract positions were cut drastically so at the end of January 2002 I wrapped up my projects and moved on.
Freelance work has kept me busy since I left Sprint. Most of my time is spent assisting Chris Loud and Dave Swanson develop and support a large, web-based inventory management and fullfilment system used by a major pharmaceutical company and their fullfilment company. In addition I provide network consulting and monitoring services and build, monitor, and support LEAF firewalls for several small companies.
Well, enough about me. Take a look around the site (yeah, I know, there isn't much to look at yet) and enjoy your visit.
